Poems from On High – Part Deux!

As in my last post, each of these poems was written while soaring at 30,000+ feet (these on the way to Houston!). For the previous set, visit this post. Enjoy!

Meringue clouds –Β
seemingly stiff peaks –Β
melt into billows
under morning’s light.

Inky islands poke through
cream fluff
landscape out my window
far above the world.

Arrows point upward,
mountains stretch,
peaks toward heaven.

  1. What a nice poem! I thought “meringue clouds” was such a wonderful way to describe the fluffiness, creaminess of the stratus cloud. The rhythm has the feel of couplets or haiku, even though they aren’t! Thanks for sharing

    1. Thank you for the feedback! I’m enjoying playing with free verse as well as received forms, including haikus!
